Seasonal Indulgence

This week, the first in this photographic montage experiment, I'm sharing with you a few photographs of fall. To be clear, this is not at all what fall looks like where I am currently living - San Juan, Puerto Rico - where lows are in the 80's and where the words "fall foliage" have never been uttered. These autumnal portraits were taken exactly 10 years ago, during the fall of 2009, in the town of Amherst, MA where I lived while attending Amherst College. (During college, I was in a "blurry photo phase," so forgive the blurriness of the last photograph.)

Happy fall, wherever you are!

Reviving The Restless Writer!

Hi friends! I'm excited to announce that I'm going to be reviving this blog, but with a whole new premise. Instead of using this blog to write about all things writing related, I'm going to use this blog as a platform to give my photographs another life.

I've been taking pictures since I was a kid, and my obsession with photography has never really abated. I studied darkroom photography when I was in high school and have been documenting the world with digital photos ever since. And I want these photographs to have a life outside of my hard drive!

I write and think a lot about social media and smartphones on my other blog, Dispatch from a Digital Life. Something I've been thinking a lot about is how to showcase my photography without falling into the trap that is social media, something I've written about on my newsletter. Then it dawned on me to use this blog as my outlet!

I plan on posting four photos every Friday. The photos might be from that week, or they might have been taken months or years earlier. I might write a short explanation about the photos, or I might not. They might have something to do with each other, or they might not. Who knows?

The idea is to exercise my creative muscle by curating a weekly photo essay for all you wonderful people! I hope that you'll enjoy receiving it as much as I'll enjoy making it!

For now, I'll leave you with this photograph taken last week when Norbert and I got lost and ended up here
